Uncanny X-Men Rainbow Draft Results

The Rainbow Draft today, at Frogtown Hobbies, went very well. We had two new gentlemen, that hadn’t ever been to a Board in Toledo Dice Masters Draft, join us today, James and Hunter. There was one super rare pulled, by Hunter, a Scarlet Witch – Controls Probability.

Final four were:

  1. Chris
  2. Joel
  3. James
  4. Hunter

It was a great time, and we look forward to continuing to grow the game in the Toledo area. If you’re interested in learning more about Marvel Dice Masters, please come join us some time at an event, or just message us on Facebook or Twitter. We’d love to chat with you.

The first night of our Winter 2014 Organized Play is in the books! We saw lots of Jinteki, and lots of Flatlining, once again. Now that everyone has those awesome Plascrete Alt-Art cards, we should see less of that… or will we?

We also revealed the finalized design of the Board in Toledo Playmat that’s being given away as a prize at the end of the season. The design is based off of everyone’s favorite Weyland card to hate, Scorched Earth.

First Uncanny X-Men Rainbow Draft @ Frogtown Hobbies

First Uncanny X-Men Rainbow Draft @ Frogtown Hobbies

We’ll be working with Frogtown Hobbies on Saturday, November 1st to hold a Rainbow Draft of the NEW Uncanny X-Men Dice Masters Set. The Draft will begin at noon.

UPDATES 10/31/14: Cost for the Rainbow Draft will be $15. First place receives an Uncanny X-Men Playmat. If you pay for entry into the Rainbow Draft you can purchase a Starter Set at Frogtown Hobbies for $12.95 (normal price is $14.95).

Uncanny X-Men Playmat

Information on Rainbow Drafts:

Each player should come to the event with 8 Sidekick Dice, 12 Basic Action Dice, 4 Indicator Cards, and 2 Basic Action Cards (players may choose which Basic Action Cards they’d like to use after completing the draft, but must use the same 2 throughout the event).

Each player in the draft sits down with 12 packs of Dice Masters to draft with. A set of 6 packs is opened. As each player opens their packs they should verify that the cards and dice match. Keeping their cards secret, players should set them aside into a pile of 12 cards. The next 6 packs are opened and when complete are placed into a separate pile of 12 cards in front of the player (the piles are not to be mixed). All dice are placed into the center, and arranged as below so players can see exactly which dice and how many of each will be available during the draft. We call it Rainbow Draft as players may elect to sort them by color to allow for easier visual spotting of which cards correspond to which dice during the draft.

Each player then takes the deck they most recently prepared and after a short amount of time to review the cards, they select one, setting it face down in front of them, and passing the remaining cards to the player to their right. This card begins a pile of cards that players will be able to use in their team. After all players have selected a card, they take the pile from their left to select their next card and repeat the process until they are passed a single card to be placed into their pile.

After the first stack of 12 cards have been depleted, players should take a moment to review the cards they drafted (each player should have 12 cards at this point). After reviewing their cards, players will return them to a face-down pile in front of them and draft the second pack the same way as they did the first, this time passing in the opposite direction (left).

After drafting all packs, players should take dice from those that were set aside to match each of their cards. They will then construct a tournament team based on the Basic Action Cards they own and the cards they drafted. This tournament team can have up to 8 cards and up to 20 dice across those cards (many teams will have less than this). The basic action dice and cards and sidekick dice do not count against this limit of 8 cards and 20 dice.

Our First Android Netrunner Tournament

Our First Android Netrunner Tournament

August 5th marked our very first Android Netrunner Tournament. It was organized on the fly, as we had just discovered an awesome facility to play at, that day. We had a total of six players show up and participate. There was no entry cost, as we are still working on formulating some sort of structure to how we run the tournaments. This tournament consisted of 3 rounds of Swiss, with each player earning 2 prestige for each win, just as stated in the official A:NR Tournament Rules. Matt P. went home the winner, as he only lost once, the entire night, to Austin. Matt ended up with 10 prestige on the night, Austin and Joel both had 8, Larry had 6, Andrew had 4, and Matt M.(very first Netrunner tournament ever, and still is running with just the core set, no data packs!) had 0. Overall, we all had a good time. The facility we played at was Frogtown Hobbies. They were very accommodating, providing us a free place to play, in a nice environment.

We plan on hosting these tournaments at least every other Tuesday, at Frogtown, with a start time of 7:00pm. Hope you’ll join us!
